
The
farming architecture of the Quercy, has a very rich and large diversity
and is the expression of one of the most brillant and imaginative farming
cultures. It presents constructions of a large variety of shapes and
volumes with numerous local interpretations translating just as well
the diversity of materials (chalky, sandstone, flat tiles or canal tiles,
lauzes (flat stones of the area) of shale or limestone...) that neighboring
regions influence. This interest is reinforced by a wealth of architectural
features : pigeonniers, bolets, combined into an infinitive variety
of styles. These elements are symbolized by the way the landcape of
the Lot is dotted by numerous small constructions : cazelles, gariottes,
pigeonniers, lavoirs, mills,...
